Blake Hylton

Blake Hylton is a deeply experienced coach and former player with a rich history at the Strikers, having joined the program as a young player at the age of 5. Born in Jamaica, Blake has been a staple in the Royal Palm Beach soccer community since 1998, actively participating in various local leagues such as O’Shea’s Sunday league and BASL, primarily playing as a forward.

Educational and Professional Background:

  • Blake attended the University of South Florida and Howard University School of Law, where he developed skills that have greatly benefited his coaching career.
  • His legal education has enhanced his strategic thinking and discipline, which he integrates into his coaching methods.

Coaching Philosophy and Achievements:

  • Blake is known for his disciplined approach and patience, qualities that have enabled him to effectively develop young talent and craft winning strategies for his teams.
  • He has coached across nearly all age groups in the recreational league for six seasons, securing several championships and cultivating high-performing teams.
  • His coaching philosophy emphasizes high energy and a strong soccer IQ, advocating for proactive thinking to gain a competitive edge. Blake focuses on quality build-up play through the middle and strategic counter-attacks to challenge and overcome strong defenses.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Blake is in the process of obtaining his U.S. Soccer Grassroots 11v11, 9v9, and 7v7 Licenses, with completion expected by June 2024.
  • He is also on track to earn his National D US Soccer Coaching License by June 2024.

Personal Interests:

  • An avid soccer fan, Blake has attended numerous global tournaments, including the Concacaf Gold Cup, Concacaf Nations, the World Cup, and Copa America.
  • He is a passionate supporter of Chelsea FC, and his current favorite players are Cole Palmer and Reece James.

Blake's holistic approach to coaching, combined with his commitment to the sport and his community, makes him a key asset to the Strikers program. He continues to inspire and develop players, preparing them not only for success on the field but also instilling in them valuable life skills.
